After closing down my breeding room about two years ago and moving house, I'm starting to find motivation to start rebuilding my cichlid collection. But it seems a lot of interest has gone away from cichlids and people are getting stuck into plants, guppies, shrimp.

So just wondering if there's anyone out there breeding some cool cichlid species anymore in perth?

I'm largely interested in eartheaters, tangs and predatory haps but keen on some rarer big CA's too. Just have three 5 foots at the moment but that will change soon.

So hoping to find a local breeder of something interesting to me (usually species that have been popular before but are now rare) or a few people interested in the same kind of thing in case a group buy opportunity comes up. Post here to let me know what's going on

Glad to hear you're getting back into it :)

If you don't have luck locally, there is a breeder in SA with Uaru and some very nice Geos and there's one there with some very nice, not so common Malawis.

Go for some more "poor man discus" again Brett. They are barely seen in WA at the moment.

At the shop near me they have C. spilorynchus, C. euchilus, P. annectens, M.joanjohnsonae (pure ones), just to name a few.  If there's anything in particular you're after he could probably find that too.

C. Spilorynchus are an awesome fish. Probably the most manly African too. They look badass!

Are Uaru on the allowable import list? Just looking at adult Uaru is awesome. Heaps cooler than discus

I don't think Uaru are on the import list.

Definitely a cool fish to keep though. I used to have 10 adults in a 9 footer with geos and everyone that saw the tank tended to focus on the Uaru.

You can find c.spilorynchus, c.euchilus and p.annectans readily enough in Perth,  I have a few spilo . Quite bad tempered beasts.

m.joanjohnsonae are available at Aquotix and in my tanks. They are not exactly widespread, but not difficult to find, either.

Now if you said you knew of some copadichromis virginalis "fire fin" or astatotilapia nubila....:)

Wow my old pair has come along way! Love the Freddie's! Have you spawned them yet?
I spawned them once but fry got eaten.
(That's if they are my old pair ;) I did sell a couple to tony)

I've heard rumors of Fernadezyepezi floating around. Am yet to see one but have heard from a number of reliable sources....

Are there any adult C. euchilus around? I have a decent adult colony of 11 females and no males. Haven't seen any around.
