Now I know Americans and tank busters are not most people cup of tea but I'm amazed by them and I really love them. So I was wondering if there are any 'rare' or very hard to find Americans that I can get and hopefully breed. The specific species I was looking for were caquetaia umbriferum aka umbee. Others include all other members of the caquetaia genus, cichlasoma istlanum, hericthys bartoni, any snooks, any members of amph genus apart from lab and citrinelum, and the first African on the list tilapia buttikoferi. I'm not going to bother about species such as haitiensis, beani, grammodes, pure trimacs etc. because im pretty certain they're not here. But if anyone has any advice or knows anything about any of these being here (i know buttis are around but don't know where), please let me know.

Cheers, Tom

I meet a bloke 2 months ago with 6 butterkofferi, he's trying to breed them but of course its proving hard as they nearly kill each other he says - be nice to see them turn up again.

Snooks are here, and pop up time to time at some LFS.

I'm nearly certain a member on here has sold an Umbee recently too.

A guy in Victoria bred buttikoferi and had them advertised on Gumtree and local Facebook pages a few months back.  They are the only ones I've heard of being bred in recent times.

If you are game to ship from the east coast, Andrew at Labyrinth in Sydney is worth a try for less common cichlid species.  Shipping can be a killer for just a handful of fish, but possibly worth considering doing a group buy with mates.
