Haven't seen a committee member advertising a marble peacock for sale! If you read the whole thread you'll see the discussion originally started regarding a tangerine peacock and the question was asked if this is a cross between an Aulonocara and a M. estherae.

I always thought marmalade cat referred to the OB Labeotropheus rather than peacocks - is the common name being extended to include anything OB.

Personally I think tangerines should be put in the same basket as the marble but that's only my opinion - I also think longfin bristlenose should be removed from tanks and stepped on so obviously my views wouldn't align with most people here. Anyone really fanatical about peacocks will avoid types that are only known via trade names rather than species with locations eg. dragon blood. Luckily Aulonocara are allowable imports and you can readily get a decent range of natural varients quite easily. Last time I was at Malaga (quite a while ago) they had a great range of peacock varients. Problem is they were all little silver or grey looking fish that the average joe would walk straight past and instead pick out an orange looking mutant. Tangerines, marbled, dragon blood all look terrible next to an adult male baenschi or a kandeensis - I can't understand why any cichlid enthusiast would bother with them if they knew better.

All fish that are on the hybrid list will remain there until proven otherwise.

Some fish are generally accepted as Hybrids, while others are on the grey list, eg not proved either way, and until confirmation either way there will always be discussion on this issue.

The common names are very often confusing and that is why the PCS asks that wherever possible the correct names be used.
