Hi folks!

I'm currently setting up a dedicated species tank, and hoping to breed: Lethrinops Red Capuz! I was told by Mr. Az Midland & also Ms. Krystal Aquotix (haha!) that they are a very rare fish... so I thought I might have a go at trying to breed them and hopefully, share the results with fellow members.. smile.gif

Tank being set up:

Brand new 3x14x18 tank and stand
2x AquaOne CF700 canisters
200w heater
limesand, limestone, fake plants etc...

The tank might be a bit small, but I will see how it all goes and if need be, upgrade the tank in future. I'll upload some pics of the new tank tonight.

Anyways, I have 10 of the Red Capuz coming which I was told (by Mr. Ronny "click click") that it would be a good number for a colony... biggrin.gif

Cheers all!
Kevin

Thanks Dave!

If I have the same success with them as I did when I was breeding F2 Mpanga, I'll be estactic!! biggrin.gif

The colony of 10 is costing me an arm and half a leg... lol

Cheers!
Kevin

Good luck with them.

10's a nice number but might be a tight squeeze in a 3 footer.

Yeah thanks mate. Unfortunately Morley Aquariums didn't have 4fters in stock and to custom build one would take about 10 days (backlog of jobs). I have the fish on hold at Aquotix and wouldn't want Krystal to hold them for too long...
Also, after seeing a few "second hand tanks" that have been advertised, both here and Quokka/Gumtree.. I decided to buy a new set up..... dry.gif

I'll be splitting up the colony when I manage to see which ones are compatible. Eg: 1 male/3-4 females etc.. and put the rest into another tank as a secondary breeder.
Gotta satisfy my fellow PCS members with juvies! biggrin.gif

Cheers!
Kevin

And here's their new home:

Keep in mind, the tank is set up as a breeding tank... not for display, so please disregard my aquascaping...I just threw in some spare limestone and fake plants.... biggrin.gif

Cloudiness is due to the very fine limesand i'm using... looks awesome in person! Hopefully the cloudiness disappears in a few days.

Cheers!
Kevin

Looks good Kev.....Plenty of open space for them which they will love.

Maybe try and create a few more nooks and cranny's for the females to retreat to if need be.....Other than that looks good, nice and practical.

I was watching them today and there are definitely some with a lot of character!

The water has cleared up nicely, thanks to SeaChem Clarity! biggrin.gif

Also added more limestone to create more "territory" as per advice by some members.

They're still juvies and I've only picked them up/added them to the tank this morning, so pictures don't do them justice! You can probably see the redish outline along their fins.
My camera/skills are crap so bear with my pictures until Mr Ronny "click click" drops by... biggrin.gif

Will update again when the fish have grown abit and coloured up! smile.gif

Cheers!

G'day Kevin,

I can understand why.
I am intrigued to watch these guys grow into stunners too, all the best.

Do I sense a six foot tank in their future?

cheers

I have a spare old 4fter if missus doesn't let me have another tank (6ft)...
I'm grabbing the remaining 3 juvies from Aquotix, so will need more space.. LOL!

They're still juvies but showing some colours already, especially the reddish outline on their fins, and also the "red cap", although it's still early days! biggrin.gif
