So I moved my old 4x1.5x2 out and replaced it with a 6 footer. Got the tank of gumtree for $250 which I think was a pretty good deal. It's got 10mm glass and a steel stand with cabinetry to hide the inner workings. It also has a sump, dual fluro light built into the hood and it even came with a uni rock background which was a really good added bonus and some spare tubes.
I filled the bottom with a mix of playsand from bunnings and coral sand from Avid Aquaria. Its hard to aquascape as it so much wider than the old tank. I also bought a crazy new Ocean Free heater from Avid , it has a digital readout of the temprature of the tank and has a full length shroud/sheath to protect it. (get into Avid if you are after a new heater as they are the shiz nits)
I will update with new stock and rockwork.

Found this link to a video of some spectacular geographical features and things other than lake Malawi that Malawi is maybe not so well known for

Makes me want to book a ticket over there even more.

Do you mean jordanella floridae? I can ask Ian Mcgregor at the old water garden world fish farm in Armadale if he still has some and get back to you.

Hey Lex
First, I would get 5 or 6 fish, 3 small and 2 large or 4 small and 2 large. Reason being is that the are hard to sex even when adults and the males will grow bigger than the females. So 5 or 6 will pretty much guarantee your at least getting a pair.
Second, Julies are not cannibalistic, in fact the first generation of fry will help look after the next generation. Also Julies have a small mouth so don't tend to target fry the size of cyprichromis.
the only thing you need to watch is the julies defending their spawning rock but most fish like cyprichromis get the message pretty quickly.
Third, that rock looks better but go for something like limestone to keep the pH up.
Thanks
Joel
