YEA nothing wrong with clowns, i've bred heaps of bristlenoses with the clowns in the tank. Just put them in the fry saver when they are about to leave the cave. The male guards the cave entrance up until then. cheers.gif Steve

Woops I forgot about this thread.

I actually did a naughty thing and spent my $100 before my voucher even arrived, so I guess I'm just going to spend that on food lol.

Anyway, I ended up getting 4 of the clown loaches (the baby ones), and 8 glass catfish. The clowns are so much fun to watch, and they sleep together in a hole in my driftwood. They haven't gone near my baby bn's yet (they're too busy playing poke and hide with my big bns lol), but I'll definitely keep an eye on them as they get bigger, and if they get too big for my tank/eat my babies, I guess I'll sell them sad.gif

The glass catties are beautiful too, feeding them is the hard part!

Thanks all for your suggestions! biggrin.gif

The glass cats take a while to settle and will generally grab food off the surface. The vegetation near the top should mean they will settle soon. Use a mix of sinking food initially to bring the greedy clowns towards the bottom and then some floating flake so the glass cats can pick flake off the surface. You learn the feeding tricks in your community tank to make sure everyone gets their share.

Thanks Pat, I only bought 4 initially and they were spending all of their time in one of my coconuts, so I added another 4 and they're a lot more lively. They didn't go for my blood worms but they seem to be getting the hang of grabbing flakes, just gotta keep my crazy danios away!

Just Weigh the wood down with a rock. The extra water pressure will speed up the soaking process.

What sort of rock? I have some small black "river stones" but I've read that slate is good?

Thanks

I tied a couple of (clean, new) take out container lids to the bottom of my wood with fishing line and burried them under the substrate. Hasnt floated up again since. All you can see is the line, but I have line holding my new flame moss on anyway so I dont mind that it is there smile.gif
