so yes the trip to Aquotix...

after few suggestions here I decided to look at Apistogrammas and Rams and Angelfish.

Ended up waking out with:

6x small Discus

3x Apistogramma (hoping we picked 1M and 2F)

3x Rams Blue (hoping we picked 1M and 2F)

8 plants

3x I think is Otocinclus - for the planted tank issue.

+ other bits... I think I shouldn't be allowed to go to LFS by myself anymore - getting expensive :-)

Discuss are still stressed and color has not returned fully. However this morning they are schooling and now dominate the tank. Yesterday they spent most of the time in the corner. They seem to be enjoying the area with allot of water flow. I thought they prefer slow moving water which is also available in the aquarium.

I have put in few more plants but not happy with the layout at all. I will let the fish settle in and attempt to rearrange in a week o so.

Here are some Pics:

That's awesome. Love the neon blue rams, they look mint!
Did you see the German blue rams they got as well? Do a vid of the discus once they settle in

Nice, with the apistogramma cacatuoides you have it's actually better to keep them in pairs rather than harems as females will usually fight (occasionally to the death)

O man heaps of weird things going on in the tank.

The Apistogramma females have picked different sides of the tank. The male cant seem to make up hos mind and keeps going from one side to the other. With one female each time he goes there they do a weird head shake which resembles almost a shivering like movements.

The Rams think they tetras. Schooling with neons and cardinals.

One cardinal is gone crazy. Even attacking discuss if they get to close.

And best part the two corys. They swimm from one side of tank to other and each time they hit the water flow they jump out of the water.

Interesting to watch.

The discus now officially have a bully.

Excellent more Discus lovers! Tanks is looking very interesting. Love the mix of fish you have chosen.

How is the PH going with that limestone in the tank, the limestone might leach a bit and make the PH higher than you really want for the Discus?

I look forward to see them colouring up as I think those photos aren't doing them justice?

Its a fake rock. No ph issues. Also got a soft water resin today which I will put into the filter today.

First water change coming up. Not sure how to attack this as local water ph is 8.

I have the seachem natural regulator 7.0... will that do the job? Was fine with other fish.

Haha, Finally some insight, they do eat them! That's why you get the cardinals or the rummy nose' they're larger than Neons.

If you can get PH to 7.0 I think that would be good. I think mine is around 7.2.

Discus look the most unlikely of predators.
Nice fish aajvcad... how did you come up with you come up with your forum name? It looks like you passed out on your keyboard, woke up and thought "bugger it, that'll do".

Its amazing how different fish behave... my discus ignore all small fish, even shrimp.

Yes. This one is a bully. Givin a hard time to all fish apart from the ghost fish. Leaving him alone.

Guys what is a good height for a discuss tank? Getting a 6x1.5x1.5 ready but not really sure if its tall enough.

Found some cool tanks like this online and inspired me to attempt and make something like it. I know its not easy but ill give it a very good crack for a discus tank.

I just need to find a place to buy plants and rocks which won't send me completely broke :-) Paying $10 for one plant at the shop is not going to do the job...

The discus is kind of the wife's tank. She wants to get rid of 2 discus she doesn't like.

REASON: They keep eating the cardinals... hahha... sorry but kind of funny.

So I may have 2 Discuss for sale soon.
