BEWARE SCAMMER/FRAUD:  Joel S McCorkindale Pls Pass on

Joel S McCorkindale contacted me with fish to sell on my phone details and subsequently on email.  I agreed to buy off the fish and asked him a drivers license and his bank details.  I went to the bank to do an overthecounter transfer and to confirm the identity of the person.  Everything checks out so proceeded to deposit cash to his account.  He never got back to me after confirming him the funds had been sent.  Tried reaching him on his mobile (0497061507) and email (j.mcmate931@gmail.com) to no avail.  Address appearing on his driver’s license is U1 1A Browns Pde Wendouree VIC 3355

It seems my diligence review was not good enough.  I did an online search after the fact and sad to say found a few persons were also scammed by the Joel using the same modus operandi.  I did got in touch with these victims and found that a case is outstanding against him in the Ballarat Police station.  I still need to contact the police officer in charge there to report my case.  I have gotten in touch with my local police as well.  I’ve reported it to SCAMWATCH as well.

Please pass on the info to your friends and family as he deals with other pets as well.

McCorkindale I know this name. He has scammed a lot of others but that was a few years ago. Seems like he has resurfaced. If that address is anything real, it shouldn't be long for the police.

What were you trying to buy?

Little prick tried to scam me also, though he wanted me to send fish to him. He was on some Facebook fish pages. Some guy on all things fishy has the blokes real address, post on there and you might get it.

Prefer not to say (but still legal).  I should have done detailed research before releasing cash.  I was confident on the license and the bank details matching up.

Looks like the photo may have been reprinted on that ID, note the roughened edges around the photo.
Good luck getting this guy caught as he sounds like a serial pest.

The money was transferred directly into their bank account.

How hard can it be to catch them?

Who cares if the licence is a fake?!

It was Joel mccorkingdale, was quite a while ago now, I talked to a chick from mandurah who he tried to scam too, she messaged me and said it sounded dodgy, then I seen a yarn on a fish page about others he had scammed

Pretty hard *cough* incompetent police *cough* considering he still hasn't been caught.

I mentioned the license thing as I personally would want someone to mention that if my photo was plastered on to the ID of someone committing scams..

Being from there I should probably know that.. Cheers for clearing that up Leigh.
But still, who goes around scamming people that know their address and name?
Sounds like those gronks that robbed a store while wearing name tags..

JUST AN UPDATE.

this guy is still out there scamming people.  I've been contacted by a latest victim who saw this post on the net.  Joel is dealing with non-pet related items as well.  BUYER BEWARE and don't be a victim.

so basically this is a good reminder to support your LFS rather than chase a bargain online only to be stung this way.
