i've just bought a 6ish cm bullrout and wanting to know what are suitable tank mates?

Slow movers, about the same size. No aggressive feeders.
A little sleepy cod or a slightly bigger butis, Neo's.
I'd like to try rainbows.
They start off quite shy but get a bit cranky as they get bigger.

As juvies yes... Dunno as they get older. I imagine they would be a bit territorial

Fine to keep as a group. I have always used larger comets, to bring in some movement and colour. Also they can handle the cooler temperatures.

what temp do you keep yours on? anyother tank mates then goldfish?

I keep them at the temperature of the fish room. So prob between about 18 and 30 deg C. Never bothered with any other fish than goldfish. You dont want the other fish taking the bullrouts food! If you ran it brackish, then mono would work well.

Agreed on the food. If you want to keep anything with them, they need to be slow non aggressive feeders.
