I was just guessing from body shape, top one is wider (fatter) in the body with a stumpier nose, bottom one is straighter body with longer nose? All my sexing skills come from you johnno, so if you can't tell, than I must be seeing things:) lol

the bigger one does look female but it has bent head so i wouldnt breed from it - run the risk of getting deformed fry....

smaller one does appear to be male :)

Thanks bigjohnnofish and aquacouple.

I think its the way it is sitting in the picture, I got it out again last night and it looks straight but I will keep an eye on it.

If it is bent it will be disappointing as it was purchased from a local store who got it off a local breeder.

Cheers,

Blake

looks bent in all 3 pics otherwise i prob wouldnt have said much... people trade fish all the time without noticing defects... next time you''ll be looking for them a bit harder before buying... it doesnt stand out like a bent tail but you need to look out for it...  orange spot b/n are really bad for it because of years of inbreeding along the lines...
