A contraversial and interesting documentary, I reccommend viewing.

I think most claims in it need to be researched before you accept anything as factual.

Parental supervision is probably a good idea, but I havent seen any images on here that arent already in our normal everyday TV news channels.

The part covering religion was interesting, I recall reading years ago about the Roman authority using religion simply as a method to control the people, which seems quite obvious to me even today when I've heard sermons in RC churches who seem to still carry a tone of wanting to control people and make them fear God instead of perhaps find peace or understanding with a God.

I liked part 3 regarding the financial system and this doco really only touches on how our financial system works, in fact if the average person new the rules of our financial system and how it works I believe the World economy would collapse almost immediatley, its just one big scam that enslaves us all. I have American currency and it says on the note "in God we trust" in the old days each bank note represented Gold held at the reserve bank, now the reserve bank has no more Gold so money is now just a worthless peice of paper, there is nothing to back its value except the ignorance of the people.

just an interesting thing i found on religion and i 100% do not mean to discriminate anyone or offend them in any way!

in revelation it says that the maark of the beast is 600 three score and 6, or 666. and he shall have the mark on his hand and head when it says beast it does not mean literal beast it means a power or a person of power!

The 'fish hat' that the pope wears bears the inscription "vicarius filii dei" - wich means, Vicar of the Son of God. now vicar means representative! so is this saying that the pope is the one to tell god who is good and bad? is he the one who satnd above the rest of us on the right hand of god, as a representative? if you believe in a god...

also another interesting point it that the letters of "vicarius filii dei" in roman numerals all ad up to the numer 666, and he shall have the mark on his hand and his head!!!

v - 5
i - 1
c - 100
a -
r -
i - 1
u - 5
s -

Vicarius = 112

f -
i - 1
l - 50
i - 1
i - 1

Filii = 53

d - 500
e -
i - 1

Dei = 501

112 + 53 = 165

165 + 501 = '666'

just something i found!

like i said before this isn't meant to offend or discriminate anyone!

What are your thoughts?

Cheers

Arron

I think most claims in it need to be researched before you accept anything as factual.

They certainly do...

I got as far as the Egyptian god Horus bit...even a cursory examination of the literature blows massive holes in this fiction disguised as a documentary

Horus was not born of a virgin...Dec 25th reference if fictional (and irrelevant)...12 disciples??? maybe someone should inform the Egyptian religion scholars of this...they are currently unaware of that fact.

If this is an example of the 'research' and 'facts' that film offers...i can't be bothered watching the next hour and half.

Sure organised religion has been responsible for many evils around the world...sure the worlds leaders are greedy and corrupt...i knew all this without wasting my time watching this film

just my opinion

Cursory examination? Perhaps your brief examination is not deep enough to make a good judgement, how can you be so sure your reference material is correct or better than theirs?

Sorry but I can't respect an opinion formed from a cursory examination.

My own cursory examination on Horus found that technically Horus was conceived by the coupling of his mother and his fathers spirit, which technically makes that a virgin conception/birth right? I definitely wouldnt take my finding as gospel either, because I dont know wether the reference material I read is credible.

I do agree that some of it looks a bit too much to be true, but if you give it a chance there are some interesting theories in this video.

Seems you made a cursory effort all round. laugh.gif

I'm sure you'll find more holes in this than a dishwasher sponge tongue.gif , the scriptures and entire subject
of Religion can in interpreted in so many different ways, to try to debate what is truth is like a dog
chasing its tail.

I feel you are being a little vague with this comment on Religion and the scriptures. By scriptures I'm assuming your referring to the Bible?
Religion is a very general term as well. Atheism, Darwinism, Buddhism, Islam, Catholicism, Hinduism and Christianity are all religions in their own right. Pigeon holing them under the title 'Religion' and saying they can be interpreted in numerous ways is a paradox.

I did see there website mate, thats where i watched the film .
But as I said, references? There is a list of source materials, a bit like a 'books i read:' list at the end of a school assignment.

But as the film introduced new ideas, they did not refer to any material to substantiate or backup their ideas.
Thats what references usually are. e.g such and such found this and this and therefor we think this.

not just here is the facts, and you can read these books if you want to check that we are right.

anyway, we both agree that there's plenty of holes in this film...so no arguments from this fishkeeper smile.gif

have a good weekend

over and out

Interesting debate.

I think another important factor to remember is...history has been constructed largely in written language and sometimes written from oral accounts. If we consider who has had access over the years to literacy, it will become clear that it has been mainly the military, the clergy and the priveleged. Another point to consider is it has been a "male" history. The history of the masses, women, children, indigenous people etc has been ignored or lost, and the history of the world has been written from a male perspective. None of it is reliable or even close when you consider its lack of depth, not to mention the translation from one language to another.
We are all social constructs, constructed to do the will of the dominant classes (currently white middle class males). This is not done on purpose, it just is. That's why we need to remain critical, ask questions and see things as problematic and strive for equity, act locally think globally....or.....live in tankland where everything is always nice (nearly always).

Regards,

Donna
