At Pet magic the other day I noticed 3ft T8 Tubes with LED bulbs in it on the shop aquariums.

I asked the young guy there where they are from and he was unsure, which has lead me here.

Now, where I can go and buy them and see them on display perhaps?

Does anyone else use them? and if so thoughts ideas? and for the gurus,

Will they work in my HETO light unit? same ballast/starter motors etc?

Seemed like a very nice spectrum of light, with a nice colour/kelvin give off, and created that ripple shadow effect on the substrate that halides and LEDs give.

Thanks

Yes they are designed to work in standard fittings. I looked into this before buying LED's.

There is a place near Stock Rd / South Street that does them. just a lighting shop.

They used to be on eBay a bit too.

They arent as good and energy efficient as proper LED's, especially in colours.

I've recently seen them advertised but have never tried them. Would be curious how you get on if you do. Was poking around eBay I think.

Fishroom carries the LED T8 flouro tubes in Sunlight and tropical, our whole shop is lit using them.
