Hi all, as of recently i decided to get my first tank, been living in Canada the last 2 years where i noticed the vibrant cichlids over there, have always wanted an aquarium but most of my earlier years were dedicated to working away in the oil and gas industry so I never had the time.

I got my first 2ft tank, was getting it set up for the first time and drip drip drip, water everywhere! first damn tank and i got a faulty one!

Got a replacement, all ready to stock with africans which I quickly realised isn't going to be big enough lol (Must research before impulse buy).

Its been about 3 weeks now and im hooked.

letting my tank settle atm and my fish grow out a little before i upgrade.

Finding myself searching and googling for that must have cichlid.

looking forward to them colours!

Chris

Welcome to the forums Chris . it does take a little while to work out what fishes to get etc  .. And as Chopstiks  has said when ya get bitten  it is all over

If you browse the forums im sure you will find some good articles to help you out  Also reading books helps as well The PCS library has allot of reference books  which are available  for Members to borrow

But when in doubt just post a question and im sure one of our knowledgeable members will answer. There is an Auction at the PCS clubrooms Tuesday night 3rd may good to come along and have a look at what we don and fish in the hobby

Cheers Rich

Welcome to the hobby Chris!

WARNING: Your "Multi tank syndrome" (type of fishoholic virus   ) could be just around the corner....

May I suggest for you to keep your diary and share your experiences with other members here on forum from time to time?

I am sure there are many "new starters" which will find your findings/ rewards and issues you will be facing (hope you will not have any) very helpful.

There are also many very knowledgeable people here who can help you if you have any problems or just need correct information...

Cheers Chris
