Typically the blue line is a juvenile characteristic. He isn't one of a kind. I've got a few out the back, might bring some down in October. I used to keep brood stock of these that went 12-14kg. They were very hard to keep unless you got the stocking density right, they get very aggressive when they start to condition up for breeding. Nice fish, and the people that have them in large tanks ponds up my way really see them as having more character than the perch, barra or other fish they have.

I think your right adam, I havent really caught a Jack under 25 - 30 cm and my biggest at 52cm, so maybe I'm not seeing this blue line because they have lost it already.

Mate how territorial and aggressive are they? Obiously this bloke is in a 5 x 2 x 2 on his own for now... any chance of a tank mate? or ya reckon he would kill it? he has been by himself now for almost a year

Id say he would probably kill anything you put in their. If you were to try then whatever you put in there would have to be the same size or bigger than him.

Was he in the tank by himself? Even if he was must have been one hell of a fish that smashed him, or maybe he got an infection and ses rubbing up against rocks or wood?
