When I got home from work something had tripped the power so the tank was cold!
All my tanks were between 15 and 20 deg I dont remember what temp the bichir tank was not sure if this triggered them.

From what I've read, the parents occasionally eat the eggs.

Probably best to remove either parents or eggs.

Best of luck smile.gif
Would love to get some fry!

Well done on spawning your senegals.

I found the hardest bit by far was getting the eggs to hatch. I was never sure if my male wasn't doing his job properly, or an environmental factor was limiting my eggs viability. As they are an egg scatterer it is almost impossible to remove all the eggs from the parents tank, unless they have laid the majority of them on one plant.

Keep the water clean, and do your best to limit any silt build up on the eggs. I had some success adding a small amount of meth blue to the water to reduce the incidence of fungus.

Fry, will eat newly hatch brine.

Best of luck.

Where can i get Meth blue? went to LFS and couldnt find anything would melafix do the same thing?
At least i can be prepared if it happens again.

The eggs are still there sam! dont know what else to say! lol
They are mostly in one spot so have sectioned it off and cross my fingers hey!
Not really sure how to tell if they are no good or not? but i should know withing a few days they dont
take long to hatch.

There are currently four babies!! but this must have been an earlier spawning as the eggs i noticed were witnessed being laid on friday night so am waiting to see if they will hatch!!

There are on their own in a tank with drift wood. ph is 7. We are been having problems with our power and it trips nearly everynight while we are asleep the past week so the tank temp drops a few deg not sure if this caused it as i have read cooler water changes may help?

if not no idea why it happened!
