Their price is based on what someone considers their quality to be.

Flowerhorns are like picking up girls in the pub - you can get the ugly one easy with a couple of drinks... but the stunners need a lot more work and money spent before you get a look-in.... then she might get taken by someone else who is willing to spend a bit more on her....
So if you want an average FH, then it is cheap (Aquotix have moderate ones) but if you want better ones (like the $300 ones) then you will have to offer more $$ to get it.
I hope that answers your question

Can I add also the history behind these hybrids that got them where they are today as a designer show piece cichlid is nothing but hard work and dedication packed hours.
Intense selection processes and specie choices for hybridization is much harder than it sounds.
A lot end up infertile and extra time above and over what I just mentioned goes into constant pairing and trying till a fertile one is found from the crossed offspring.
Vast selection processes for fertility is still needed even when hormone injections are used in breeding programs over seas.

I thought mods might be thinking that.
They are just facts.
They are not my cuppa tea.

There is no hard and fast rule on it all but the infertility issue is almost non existent in the modern flowerhorns, in the years of keeping them I have had 0 infertile males and 1 infertile female. Breeding these are just as easy as any American.
Matt defenatly did not get ripped off, I would consider his worth every cent. If you do feel this way brody, maybe have a think how your poor mother felt when she realised she had you. I'm sure ripped off is an understatement

I didn't think you bred these grotesque hybrids anyway? Definately no promoting going on here.
