So i am upgrading from T5s to LED as T5s are getting too expensive to replace.
I am unsure wether i should go for the 8500k or 10,000k and cant find any images on google or youtube.
Could someone please post images of their LED light unit with the kelvin rating? It would be very helpful and much appreciated.

By the way i have a 4ft 300L with various mbuna and am trying to get the colour thats similar to the photo (crisp white and deep blue)

What are you running at the moment? If you have 10,000k in the T5 then I'd stick with that looking at what you want.

I have the 10k and it is very bright. It even worked for my marine tank corals until i upgraded.

 

I think the 8500 is more than enough.

I have 2 x 39W T5s with Red-Sea blue white bulbs but they go dull so quickly. Its going to cost me $110 for 2 new bulbs or $110 for an LED setup.
The LED is 45 watts compared to 2x39w bulbs.

The kelvin rating is related to the colour of the light, not its intensity.

 

10000k is a 'bluer' looking light compared to 8500k, which will be more of a 'white' light.

 

Jezza, to match the light in the picture, I would suggest 10000k.

Why not go in to the shop you are purchasing it, and ask to see the lights in action? Unless you're buying online?

Hey Jason, yeh online from ebay. I went back to purchae it and EOFYS price was $98 instead of $110

I have some beamswork LED's over my 8footer 2x 120cm units light my tank just fine, actually pretty impressed with the units for what they are worth. 

 

Will have a look when I get home which model I have if it says it on the unit.

I've got a 3ft rgb beamworks led and it does exactly what i want in my 7x2x2 creates that spotlight effect at night which hides my wave makers and returns

Not sure why my camera shows it with a blue hue but its pretty white.

I'd suspect it is very blue. Not that it's a problem but I have noticed photos and what the eye sees can be different sometimes. Maybe it's the camera filters - idk.

Yeah , mine are the same. If I take a full tank shot it makes my tank looks green/yellow (strange for LEDs) but in person looks white.

I think the phone cant handle the brightness. Plus unlike a $1000 DSLar they arent calibrated for true colours.
