Hi,

Does anyone have any advice on setting up a sump system for a breeding rack?

Myself and the husband just bought 12 x 2ft tanks on a rack, all with drilled sump holes, and thought we'd give it a go.

Both of us are completely new to sump systems.

Pictures of your own sump systems would be great.

Cheers

Hi Izzy

Are the drilled holes in the base or at the top of the rear panel?

Got a photo of the setup you scored?

Hi Daz,

With 6 of the tanks the holes are drilled in the top rear, the other 6 in the top sides.

I'll try get a pic up tomorrow.

Cheers

Did it come with a sump or do you need to get one?

There is no sump, so we will need to find/make one.

Sumps are very useful on racks. They make maintenance a little easier and a lot easier if you spend a few extra dollars and dont mind a bit of DIY.
The search function on this forum is very good. Read up qbout some other folk's designs and experiences. It will help you work out how you want to do it and which questions to ask.

A quick sear h of "sump":

There are millions of others too.
One thing with a decent size multi sustem is that you need to know all your fish are healthy. Otherwise you may find yourself treating a lot of water or facing problems in all the connected tanks.
If you are going to be buying and adding new fish with any kind of regularity I suggest a very good quarantine set up or forget the sump idea and use air driven sponges.
Did your setup come with plumbing and bulkheads?

No plumbing was included, all tanks have bulkheads though.

I must try to get a picture up on here so its easier for you guys to help!

Hi Guys,

Sorry i haven't posted the pic sooner.

Here is the pic of the rack.

Sump holes are drilled on the top rear of 6, the other 6 have them on the top sides.

Thanks
