Hey guys, set up a species mbuna tank for a colony of Metriaclima elongatus "chailosi"
there is only 5 atm, 3 males 2 females but am looking for more to build the colony.

The 5 of them are in a 4 x 14" x 18" filtered by a Aqua One CF-1000, i want to have a max of 10 in the tank, i am using the Krystal black sand from Aquotix and crumbled some of the limeston through it to add some white into it, hopefully these guys start breeding soon and i can get some juvies swimming around the tank.

there in there as Metriaclima "elongatus chailosi " chitande island,

these pics do them no justice at all, the colour in the male is amazing, very beautiful fish,

I think it's Ad choosing to recategorise a lot if the Pseudos to Metriaclima in his books yeah?

So Daz are you saying that scientificly Elongatus haven't been reclassified yet but Ad Konings is choosing to reclassify on his own accord through the use of his books without them 'officially' being moved?

Yep pretty sure I read an article that outlined it, will see if I can find it.

Most of the Metriaclima were once Pseudos from memory. And some will describe Cynotilipia as Metriaclima even though they are the same fish.

Cheers

Think the original article I read was in a book but here's a couple of links that cover the subject of ichthyologists arguing and reclassing as they see fit -
