Hi guys,

just recently joined PCS, iv been lingering round for awhile gathering info and ideas ect, thought it was about time i joined.

I currently have no tanks set due to family staying with us (have now moved out) and not enough room. but i am in the process of research and planning for a 8x2.5x2

not one hundred percent sure on stock yet, possible some Geos and tetras ect, my misses isnt to keen on having a couple fish in a tank this large ( i would like tank busters haha)

cheers

Willy

Hi guys,

thanks fo the quick responses, i porbably shoulve added, iv had a couple 4 foot tanks with green terrors, and a 6x18x18 with a jd before. but nothing anywhere near the 8 foot. will be all a new experience and learning along the way, as i will be sumping it (never had a sump before either). im hoping to have this tank for a while so the initial cost will in some way not bother me. another reason, for the sump is to be able to do marine is that bug bites later on :)

malawiman, i would love some TBs but you know what they say, happy wife happy life :D

A smart choice going big straight up, saves on up grading from one size to the next and so on until you end up with a large tank in the end anyway. In the long run it's cheaper, you have a smart womem there id listen to her. It will look a lot more natural with appropriately sized fish, imo tank busters aiways look out of proportion in any size tank because they grow so big and one usually ends up dominating the tank anyway so you end up with one large fish in a tank on it's own. Oh and welcome.

cheers steve

Wives are never happy... just get your fish so at least one of you can be happy.

Note: No responsibility taken for advice given.

Agreed MM, get the fish so YOU can be happy.
The only happy place in my household is right infront of the tank. Everything the wife says after i hit my seat is all a blur.

That's a very good point, I will definitely have to think hard about it then. I will be starting a new thread for the tank build soon, so il update on there when it happens

Note: If you let her choose 'one fish' for the tank, which makes her slightly involved you can then get away with much much more.

I use that same principle. Every 4.5 visits to aquatix i bring the wife along.

"Ohh hunny i like that fish, its pretty so can we get it?" Is pretty much an invite to buy whatever i want aslong as she gets her one.

Since our last Coral Bay trip I have had approval for a full sized marine tank.

She loves the coral gardens that you see when snorkeling.

Just need to save the money up now. Yes she is aware that it is about 5x the cost of freshwater.
