Hi.

I have two Astro 2208 canister filters going. The newer one, just out of warranty, has just started to be very noisy. I've taken the cover off but it looks like the impeller is in a sealed area. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix or how to get the impellor out ....or do I need to purchase a new one.

Thank you

in the top part that looks sealed has a black snout poking out - if you twist that you should be able to get it out and at the impeller to see why its noisy - may have picked up some grit or plant material and got wrapped around the impeller shaft....

if you cant get to it... just take filter into aquotix and im sure a friendly staff member will help you :)

i have 3 astro cannisters and they never miss a beat... but you do need to clean up the impeller and its hole for any crap thats built up over time in there....

very simple setup really - and it works well... once you are able to remove impeller you can do all your own maintenance... might be a good idea to clean the inside of your hoses while your there... with a spring brush or pipe cleaning tool... or even a rolled up piece of scouring pad flushed through using pressure from your mains tap...

awesome... unusual to see the impeller split but maybe something got sucked into the filter and caused it to split/crack..... happened to an aqua one cannister i had years ago... but i got rid of them and upgraded to the astros..... :)

all good - cheap(er) fix than buying a new filter

Same here on unusual to hear of impeller splits on anything. The few I'd heard of lately had been running CO2 into filters.

I've got an older Astro and never had this happen. The noise is so annoying. Glad it's fixed and now I know what to do if it happens again. Than you
