A very enjoyable and informative meeting tonight. Faye gave a great talk and inspired me to do more with my waste water from my fish tanks and possibly help with my big water bills!
Congratulations to Tim who won the API master test Kit donated by "Veba's" and to Harry who's Dimi Comp won this months "Midland pet and aquariums" show table.
The raffle table had lots of great prize's thanks to our sponsors including a special one-off donation of some aquatic plants from Darren Bennetts who owns and operates AQUARIUM PLANTS DIRECT.

This was a great night and pleased we didn't miss it.
It has inspired us to find out more about this.
Thanks to Backyard Aquaponics for the excellent presentation and the PCS for organising it.

ThanxSmiley.gif

So anyone started the Aquaponics journey yet??

Got a question... This recording of the talk... Is it only accessible by financial members??

Also one more thing I would like to share... not sure if this is appropriate here... Moderators can remove it if not...
I believe Backyard Aquaponics is looking for some part-timers to work at their shop... they are willing to train... so might be a good opportunity for someone interested in Aquaponics to get some hands-on...

Hi Ivan, I haven't started the journey yet, still a little bit more thinking to do smile.gif

The streaming video and DVD are accessible exclusively to Club Members. I would have thought since this was an intro to aquaponics talk that nothing would have been new to you, seeing as you are our resident aquaponics expert on this forum biggrin.gif

Also thanks for sharing the work opportunity. Maybe post this in the "off-the-wall" section for a bit more exposure?

And Daz is going to get one up and running as soon as his shed is finished, so shouldn't be too long after his retirement party. tongue.gif

Cawdor, well I am not an expert... I just have prior experience in Aquaponics... that's all... and there is always something you can learn from the talk...

Mattt, good to hear that things are still on track... I got my delivery of trout yesterday... they are somewhat smaller than last years.

Well I am sure the talk has pointed out the savings in water, and the fact that you can grow your own food. And indirectly helping to reduce food miles... in short, carbon footprint because you aren't buying food that has been transported to you... I hope there are more people warming up to the idea...

And werdna, it could be an extension of you going green...

Okay for those still thinking about it, need more convincing or those who missed the talk by Faye. Backyard Aquaponics is actually at the Perth Royal Show this year. Located in the Aqua Farming Pavilion. They have actually got an aquaponics setup there with real fish and plants on show. They also have some show specials on their aquaponics kits.

So if you are going to the show, do drop by. Show ends 2nd Oct Saturday. As an AP enthusiast, I will be helping them out on Fri 1st and Sat 2nd Oct. Hope to see some of you there.
