Still got a few of his old books packed away somewhere from when I started keeping fish at the age of 12. Very sad to hear. RIP

That is absolutely crazy lol. Had no idea frogs would actually hunt fish in the water. Wonder what type of frog it is? Thanks for sharing mate. Amazing
Looks a little bit like a green and gold bell frog. Can't see the pic all that well on the phone. I'm no expert either lol

If you are happy wit it that's all that matters mate. Just make sure if it ever decides to breed with any females in your tank you feed the fry off and def never sell any onto other fish keepers and all will bee sweet as there are a lot of hybrid Africans(especially peacocks). If you do ever decide to get into breeding get your hands on some pure species of cichlid. Will be much more enjoyable and you won't regret it with pure species.

I still love the cheap, common Burundis with they're big humpy heads. Very common and cheap but I just love the look of them.

The truth finally comes out. No way your seeded media would of been able to provide a brand new tank being fully stocked on the same day with enough bb to immediately start your cycle. Just dobbed yourself in bud and guess what everyone on here assumed correctly, your own lack of knowledge and impatience killed your fish, not silicone or bacteria or toxic wood. Checkmate

Lol I think you should just start breeding guppys man. Few nights ago when your fish first started droppin off you were sookin about people on here not giving you enough help and information, and now that they are trying to you are just shrugging it off and blaming it on a bacterial infection and not the lack of reading you've obviously not done on the nitrogen cycle and how to cycle a tank properly. I know your only young mate but trying to tell 90% of the members on here that you just don't have the time is never going to sit more many reasons explained above. Tangs are easy to keep when attention is paid and the proper care is given. That tank wouldn't even take an hour a week to keep in tip top shape. Not havin a crack mate but please admit that things have not been done properly and ensure it doesn't happen again instead of blaming a mystery illness. We've all experienced this before.
Lol you beat me to it by 3 min sandgroper

Water always "seems" fine when you don't have test kits. Just because it looks clear don't mean it's good for fish. Did you have anyone feeding the fish for you whilst away? Possibly could have been severely overfed in your absence and not enough bacteria may have reproduced yet or filters are maybe still too new to take the extra load? Just a thought. Do yourself another favour and read read and then read some more about the entire nitrogen cycle and the way bb works. And also don't bother getting your lfs to test your water it's not fair on them when something goes wrong as the water may show up fine one day then parameters totally different the next day if it's a new tank that's just been stocked. Good luck mate hope it works out for ya.

Lol trust me man when your workin 6 days a week 10-11 hours per day rain, hail or shine you'll be wishing you had the time and energy you had at the age of 14. Chuck in a mrs and kid or 2 and you'll be wishing you were 14 again playin all ya sports running amok etc etc. lf you are really as short on time as what you say you are then maybe some of the more forgiving and hardier species of cichlids may be best for you. Or if you've already invested all this money into the tank and fish a master test kit can't be too much more of an outlay if it saves you hundreds worth of fish.
