Pond is looking really nice! Well done, thank you for making me want more fish related things. Wife is going to love me...

Just got some pesky hair algae clinging to my floating plants that shall not be named.

Duckweed... Is it the word Duckweed?

I wish i could get ours to look like that, withthe doberman and the hound drinking from it and seeming to enjoy the taste of lilly I've got no chance. It always looks like crap haha. The fish are breeding like mad though!

Nope Leif, water hyacinth. My dog used to eat water hyacinth too come to think of it, loved it. Used to do my head in!
Its a declared species. Incidentally I took a photo of flowering hyacinth and entered it into the photocomp... finished runner up to your entry... I think it was back in August.

Few very hot weeks have created a pain in the bottom algae problem.

green hair like algae grows so fast. Been pulling it out like crazy. Will take a pic next day or two.

Not sure how but it seems like it surrounds/attaches to the snails and they cant get away. So need to free the snails each time I pull out a bunch.

Its a pain.

I hate Hair Algae! Keep at it. Ponds usually rights themselves in time... Sometimes they dont and you give up.

A couple things I have done before that have worked.

- API Algaefix Worked good but almost killed my mangrove jack. Give it a try.

- Stuck a venturi on internal filter to up o2 levels... Within a week the hair algae buggered off. But I tried the same thing on another occasion to little effect.
