Here's the pond I built a few months ago.
Still havnt finished doing the garden, ive been too busy with uni... or atleast thats what I tell my parents. tongue.gif

After the talk about Koi at the PCS meeting I decided that koi were kinda cool and that I wanted a pond of my own.

I still live at home... but the backyard has never really been looked after... its mainly just a pile of weeds and shrubs.

Well the perfect opportunity presented itself. My parents went away for 12 weeks and while I was on mid-semester break I started digging a very big hole.

So It still wasnt finished when they got back... but it was almost finished and they were impressed and happy about it. The rain stopped me from getting it done in time.

The pond is about 1 metre deep and 2.5metres by almost 3 metres and holds about 5500 Litres of water.

It's not filtered yet, but soon will be as I have a 8000Lph pump. (still gotta get power out there).

I used 500mm x 200mm limestone blocks and then leftover pavers for the capping. I used a liner to keep the water from soaking into the dirt tongue.gif

So far the costs have been:
$125 for the blocks
$12 worth of cement. (brickies lite)
$100 or so for the liner.
$95 for the pump
$alot of money to remove all the dirt.

Future costs will be Filter, Fish and Power out to the pond.

I have a feeling it will be well worth it.
My fry are going in this summer biggrin.gif

Maybe i will raise an evil duckling to be the keeper of the back yard... who knows there are many possibilities.

Tell me what you guys think and if you can work out a cheap way of filtering the bugger 8)
