Muzzy, you should ask work to put you through the Coxswain Restricted if you're operating a boat. Work pays for it, 4 days off work, and qualifiaction good for 5 years. Win win!

I did cert II and diploma in aquaculture in 97/98 and by the sounds of it not much has changed!

Although i recently did mature aged degree in fisheries management and landed a friggen awesome job for the gov (not fisheries dept). Diving one day, dropping instruments off the back o the boat the next all up and down the coast!

So it does happen and there are good jobs around, just don't pigeon hole yourselves
