#328554 Receiving Fish At Perth Airport Requirement

Posted by Spiesie on 03 October 2014 - 01:11 PM

I have in the past picked up fish in Perth which was sent with Virgin and Qantas/Jetstar:

With both arilines, I had to call the Quarantine in Perth and provided the flight details (Flight number and arrival time). This then schedules the fish to be checked by quarantine and tell you what time you can pick them up.,

#318896 Cool Tangs...

Posted by Spiesie on 19 June 2014 - 11:02 PM

Hi Red,

I had a Tang tank with that exact measurements, My stocklist was as follows (roughly, can't remember exactly  ):

15odd x C. Leptosoma Utinta

4 x Cuckoo catfish

5 x Alto C. Sumbu Shell Dwarf

5 x Jul Regani

Each specie had its own area (rocks, shells, open water, etc.) which made it very nice to look at!

Cheers,

#312065 Cyprichromis Breeding!!

Posted by Spiesie on 29 March 2014 - 09:23 PM

I have bred some cyps before(leptosoma utinta) Personally I found them more difficult than your average cichlid ( Malawi's like EY, etc.).
- firstly your water quality needs to be excellent (as with many tangs)
- secondly, there broods are fairly small 8-15 ( maybe the jumbo ones have bigger???)
- lastly they grow very slow

This was just my experience, which wasn't over a long period of time(9-12months)

If you are going down that path, make sure you have:
- good size tank with a massive colony (30+) - so that there is alway a few mouthfuls (keep up with the demand)
- good size growout - so that they can grow quicker (so that the frontosas could at least tasts something:-) )

Just my experience and my thoughts. I am sure there are more experienced keepers that can help out

Cheers
