He (i think) is going into my 1400L tank next week, then he's gonna get some size on I hope

He beat crap out of the next one in size yesterday, hope it survives....otherwise I'll be down to grab the last one of you.

Damn, one of my smaller umbees pushed the divider aside and got in wiv the big one.

Weeeell that's another one beat nearly to death in under a week, his name is now Killer!

The first one didn't make it either, I'll be down to 2 if the next one he has smashed dies!

Gotta be a male with this attitude.

I feed him massivore pellets and I have to use tweezers coz otherwise he bites meh fingers!
So, so eager to get his food

J - thats cool that yours is becoming aggressive for food. mine still goes mental for food but his hatered towards my mobile phone is just plain stupid!!! already a glass banger can't wait to get him a BIG tank and get some real size on him

Getting shipped from Melbourne. That sucks Jay but at least yours is starting to look like its a male. And Luke theres no doubting now yours is male that is one sweet as fish. One of the nicest if not the nicest I've seen for that size

nah i wish i hadn't sold you my female lol. i'm almost certain that my smaller umbee growout is also a male but it's stilll not really big enough to sex. not sure i can house a pair of umbee any way and i really only wanted a solo male.

Mine has earned the nickname 'killer' as he now owes me $85 worth of dead tankmates.....
He has just been moved into my 8ftr in his own section.
Yesterday a carpinte about 7cm went in to check him out (silly fish squeezed through the egg crate and backing), no second chances with him, he just bites their tails off and chews them a bit....

Yours is looking great!

Mine has dropped it's colour as it is still settling in.

Got the last 2 juvies from Midland and one looks male and other probably female, pretty happy bout that:)
I'm really trying to get a pair.

Sad news is guys my 55cm umbee died from white spot 2 weeks after I received him. Treated him for 5 days too

On the plus side my dovii spawned and there must be upward of 1000 or more fry

Howdy everyone,

Just thought I could share some interesting observation last night.
A 3.5 inch umbee has revealed itself to be a female!!!
Last night after an 11 hour day at the office I was kicking back watching the 2.5mtr tank just zoning out having a wine and realised my small umbee had set up a territory.
In this tank I have 3 ft section penned off on the left of the tank and it contains my 'male' 7 inch umbee (90% sure he's male).
The female had started chasing off my GT and my carpinte.

When she fronted up to the carpinte suddenly she went a cream colour, all her shadow markings disappeared except her dot and all her fins went black!
Classic breeding dress for a female! or stressed dress?

Got up this morning to find all my other occupants in the far right end of the tank. Looks like she agrees that my other umbee is a male and wants to keep every other fish away from 'her man'.

The male is trying to dig his way out but I don'y know if he just wants to eat the female or has more amourous intentions....

I'm thinking I should keep them divided, right guys/gals?
Put in a love door?

Anyone with any info or ideas, please reply.
