Ended up giving the Jardini to a mate, tough choice... it felt wise though. Being able to still see the fish regularly helped!

Back down to keeping:

Peacock Bass x2
Motoro Ray

Be careful with the lungfish. Mine had a habit of sucking the fins of other fish at feeding time, in particular the fins of other lungfish. May be a problem with a slow moving ray it may not. Something to consider.

Pretty unsure on what size Lungfish they actually ship on that site. I was hoping for something small, and that it may not then be a problem.
Any possible problems with Bass + Rays would you say?

Cheers

Probably the same problem I had with keeping lungfish with each other. The method by which they feed is suction, so anything in the area of food gets sucked in. I wouldn't keep lungys with rays.

Regarding Mangrove Jacks - It comes down to the individual fish. I have mine in a mixed malawi tank. No problems, even coexists with a couple large Tropheus.

G'day

Yeah the Jack was sort of on my initial list, I like the fish... but I decided against it a while ago. Good to hear about the Lungfish too.

Any thoughts on a Asian River Cat (Albino) in here? "20-25cm"

Currently keeping:
Peacock Bass Mono "15ish cm"
Motoro Ray "10ish cm"
x2 Salmontails "12ish cm"

My mate who took my Jardini has the Hemibagrus, gets a bit bullied in his tank by a bigger female "he is male" but unsure of the change that may happen if I take it off his hands.

Cheers, James

Having said what I have said about its good nature, I still wouldnt be trusting it with my rays. Has been growing pretty steadily, nothing outrageous though.

How do you figure this?

I think the mix is destined for disaster. Both fish occupy the same level of the tank. The feeding habit of the lungfish is what gets me. They just suck everything in at feeding time, including the fins of other fish, and a ray is more or less one giant fin. I wouldn't do mix them.

have you had the 2 together? a african lung wont mix because they are to agressive and noxiouse but ausi lungs are chilled
a small lung wont have enough power to do much damage to a rays disc plus when somthing toches the rays disc with any force they move out the way pretty quick

No i haven't kept the two together. But I have kept both rays and lungys at seperate times.

My lungys made a mess of each other to the point that I had to seperate them. They also made a mess of some large plecos I had. Lungys don't stay small forever either. Lungys have incredibly powerful jaws when they get some size to them.

Agree to disagree.

The lungfish that would ship should be around 25cm according to the fella. So that is what would be going in with the pup if I go ahead"around 10-12cm disc at a guess.

As far as the Albino Rivercat goes, we tried it. He turned from the bitch of my mates tank, and getting bullied by the female there... to a complete dickhead in my tank. It was chasing the Bass around a bit"eventually split it's tail fin" and nudging / stalking the ray when it entered his half of the tank.

That little test didn't last long though, had to slap him back in my mates tank today. So all is well again.

Current next planned additions:

Lungfish "still debating / deciding in this thread".
Another Bass so they can be mates.
Considering another ray pup.

The upgrading of the filtration is fairly complete for now too. The water is crystal.
2X Eheim 2217 and 1 FX5

Cheers

Added another bass in the tank. Really enjoying watching these guys together.

Short feeding video. I just seem to want to make videos when I build up a decent buzz after work, "on my Iphone" so forgive me...

To the people interested in saving in shipping charges with the Lungfish. I am still currently deciding on how it would go with my ray. The Lungfish ship at 25cm, I am thinking of letting my ray grow a little more before going ahead.

Water tested out fine. Looking at his stomach up close today, it looks less red, just a very soft pink to it.
