Hey Guys

The new Krystal sand looks great but I was wondering would it be suitable for shellies? If not is there another darker sand that is better suited? I will have heaps of limestone to help keep the tank balanced.

Regards

Crystal ;p

It is fine for shellies, sand sifters, earth eaters and catfish.... and ideal for planted tanks.

For everyone who has asked, I have been and had a look and this sand is not the same as the black sand at Bunnings and is far superior in my opinion smile.gif

Sorry for not pm'ing people back individually about it.....

Sounds good I will have to come have a closer look,

I assume it's not glass based then? No sharp sand grains?

From the looks of it Juls it looks like fine obsidian as opposed to being glass. Come in and have a look. We've set it up in our small shrimp tank on the counter.

obsidian is a natural volcanic based igneous rock.... similar to glass.... not sure if this sand is obsidian, just looks like it.
