Hi guys! First post on this forum. Learnt heaps so far. Anyway, purchased some juvenile peppermint ancistrus the other day and was told to be careful with feeding them zucchini as it may cause bloat. However, from what's been reported on this site, they seem to love it. What's your thoughts/experience? Cheers.

someone told you porky pies!!!  feed mine all zucchinni and they have some in their tank 24/7.... they graze on it when they are hungry....

water quality is the biggest cause of bloat along with too much animal protein based food and no veges to mix with it.... the bloat is usually caused by a blockage in the fish... skinned soft mushie peas can sometimes fix this as it acts like prunes do in humans :)... fish diahorea :)

+1 bigjohnno, i always have a small piece of zucchini in my peppy grow out tank and occaisonally feed them bbs, blood worms and shelled peas. but zucchini is the best staple for them, especially at a young age.
