Hi guys,

I had a thought a couple of days ago when placing BN fry in one of the hang-on external airdriven breeder boxes, basically I thought if you were to pack one full of filter media (using the dividers to separate different media) and run a small power head on the intake you would basically have a cheap and fairly large capacity HOB filter.

Just a thought.

Thanks.

Yeah you'd just need a really strong pump otherwise the flow through it wouldn't be strong enough.

i have done something similar before by using a small nano internal filter hoocked upto the intake of a hang on filter, it definately would work and would be like a little sump, just gotta make sure it dosent overflow out the top :)

I got mine from the shop next to meltham station in Maylands, was about $30.

I think Aquotix stock something similar but the one pictured you can also get on ebay.

You don't really need to worry about them over flowing as they have little legs you can angle them with so the water would just over flow back into the tank.

I just didn't want to mention their name as I wasn't sure if they're a sponsor still, decent shop but their 'filtration' makes me want to smack my head against a wall.

Its a good idea, especially in a pinch if you had a filter fail.

That they do, was just unsure as to whether or not they stock the one with vertical dividers.
