Yeah sleeves aren't the cheapest thing, my sleeve is only outlined with about a 1/5 coloured and it's cost $1650 already for 2 sittings. Hasn't been touched for about a year because it just cost so damn much each time I go. Then the fish hobby came along haha will probably take me about another year to get it finished tongue.gif

Yeah it's hard to come up with spare cash for them that's why I get mine in Bali. My mates sister married a bloke over there who knows a great artist took me in told him I was family now whenever I go in there he shuts shop for the day lol my whole leg from knees down and 3 hell detailed butterflys down my missus back cost like $100 smile.gif but he told me he won't do my portrait as it's not his specialty and he won't be happy with it

There are some good artists in Bali/ Thailand but I personally wouldn't Get one done there. Mates have and always needed work done to touch up and fix things. And then there is the old reusing old ink instead of throwing it away. But each to there own.
Tbh when getting a tattoo look at there portfolio and choose the artist you like and go with them but in terms of price never think of price or set a budget cause it will be there a long time. Quality is far more important then price.

I'm half way throughy my 3/4 sleeve that Samjohns is doing and it's coming along great. Il throw up couple pics soon.

That is true Bowdy I was hesitant at first too lol but he always hands me a new needle and I open it and you throw the ink in the bin when he is done.. I have def seen some dodgy jobs but lol the fiancees mate came with us last time her partner wanted a full bio-mechanical sleeve up over his shoulder covering half his chest he came with me highly recommending my guy and tatts to prove instead he went with another guy he met on the side of the road who's hole portfolio was just cuttings from tatt mags, in the half hour we were in there three different ppl told us it was there shop lol but he wanted to save $50 and ended up having rashes, burning ect for months and the whole tatt has faded to like pencil and blotches were his skin really flared up are missing the ink lol

I know everyone recommends the tattoo shops they get their tatts done at in Bali but I highly recommend going to Bali Ink (thats if you want a bali tattoo, I know alot of people arent fond of them) It is owned by an aussie but with balinese tattooist. Really great work from alot of the guys there, I got one side of my neck done there, payed more than you would at any other tatt shop there but way better than paying the minimal $150 - $180 for something tiny in Perth with the same quality. A day before I had gotten my other side of my neck done at a place across the road from Bali Ink and it has been over a year now and each month that goes by I swear bits are rubbing off hahaha while my Bali Ink tattoo is still looking great smile.gif

Buttttt, I think I might just stick to getting tattoos done local from now on, when you find a good artist you get along with well its worth every penny. Only exception is when I go to Thailand next year, its been a tradition in my family for males to get our backs tattooed hand done by monks. Look up Sak Yant on google and you will get an idea of what I will be getting

I don't like tattooing necks. Don't enjoy it one bit.

Some artists will tattoo what ever where ever. I still have some sort of morals/guidelines I run by. So if your not heavily tattooed you won't get a highly visible spot like neck/hands/face tattooed by me!
