This is slightly off topic, however it has some relevance.

I think I saw a sailfin gibby the other week in malaga and it was quite an attractive fish. Would they do good with some malawi's with no wood? Would feed it algae disc and veggies.

they need wood to digest there food and to substitute there diet a while back i seen a few cheap sailfins in aquotix for 35 buck but they where realy small around 3 to 4 cm but if you feed them zucchini and good wafers they grow realy quick

i bought a sailfin a few years ago at 3cm, it is now 24cm and there has never been wood in its tank.

zuchuni and algea wafers and what other foods make it to the bottom.

also keeps the glass spotless

in 6 to 7 months i grow them from 3 cm to 20cm they seam to grow a bit slower once they have reached this size then around 25 cm (in lest then a year) they slow down again, ive kept them with out wood for short times but they seam to like to wood and spend alot of time eating/cleaning it and for what ive read they need wood to get good backtera to help digest there food there poo seams alot healther when they have wood ive noticed with the 14 or so sailfins ive had and the other types of plec,s aswell. a great cat would reconment them to any one !
