I have a few L007's that I was growing up to try breeding. I was checking them out the other day, and noticed one of them at about 8cm was trapping another one in a cave. (so figured it was a male and female) I didn't think to much about it as I have read they need to be at least 15cm to be mature and breed, as they grow to 25-30cm. Today I got home from work to find 5 eggs sitting in the tank! I have just measured the female and she is just over 6cm! The eggs look nice and yellow so fingers crossed they hatch! Has anyone else had experience in breeding these? And what size did they start breeding for you?

Lol they are just in a standard 2.5 foot tank! 1 otto filter and some undergravel filters. I have been building a new fish room and these guys are still in my old fish room (not getting very much attention) they must have liked being left alone:)

are you sure theres nothing else in the tank that could of layed them... thats extraordinarily small to spawn... wonder if they older/more mature stunted adults.... even so... thats crazy small to be breeding... my adults now would have been 6-8cm around 12 months of age... and didnt really start breeding successfully till they were nearly 3 years old...

dunno if its just the angle of your pic but looks like it has a bad snub nose :(

I see that too, I think it's just the angle, I will get some better photos! Johnno you have seen them when you came over. Remember I showed you one that a Cichlid had nipped his tail and I asked if it would grow back? That's the male! Nothing else besides them in the tank, so the eggs are 100% theirs!

sorry mate i look at so many plecos i cant remember some times.... so the males tail grew back ?

no-ones playing silly buggers with you - i remember first time red whiptails spawned and i found 10 eggs out front.... wasnt them at all someone thought it was cool to drop some b/n eggs from below tank into top tank....

how are the eggs going... if they hatch up and look like liitte vamps then you know for sure... pretty amazing at that size....

Believe it or not.

They can breed about 10cm. I had seen my colony bred  around 10cm when i had them. I saw the batch eggs in the cave . i would say 2 lots of egg that i guess 2 females bred at the same time.

I did doubt about breeding at their size either. so once Male is fanning hard as if he is guarding the egg  so i have to check with torch to see any egg

Yes there is but i  regret using torch  egg got eaten.
