What is the availability of these guys like in WA? Owned one a couple of years ago and would like to find some small ones to bring up again

Silly question but have you checked with any of the sponsor stores to see if they can grab you one/some. Aquagreen in the NT may be able to find them for you.
Not many natives smallish this time of year. Everything spawns pretty much now so there are either fry around or yearlings. I think from memory salmontails spawn November and December so you probably wont find any in the size range you are after.

aren't the ones in the NT a different species?

IMO, there not worth much, years ago when I worked at pet magic, we couldn't move 45+ cm specimens for $60ea.

As is the price of large saratogas these days, shocked when I see ppl asking $400 odd.

theres a chick on my facebook page selling 10cm juvies for like 5 dollars ea lol. she has heaps breeding in her pond. maybe ship over like 20 of them
