My kids love watching them in the pond tank. They spend more time watching the tadpoles, frogs and marron than tv.

Looking at those claws I'd say its a yabbie rather than a marron? A shot of the top of the head should be able confirm.

I've always had a soft spot for freshwater crayfish..... it's called my stomach! Loved keeping them too though.

EDIT - might actually be a different type of marron that I'm not used to seeing that has much wider claws. See the smooth marron here - http://www.fish.wa.g...er_crayfish.pdf

Personally I'd have filled the tank up a bit more and maybe put a black background just underneath the background you have so you can't see the bricks.

When I get a around to it I'll snap a pic of one of my native tanks ;)

These are just grow out tanks.
Will have a display tank set up in the next couple weeks with a couple of barra, a sleepy cod, archers and scats.
just quarantining the sleepy cod at the moment and ideally want to find two bigger barra.
The nearly empty tank has frogs in it.
Would love to see some other native tanks.

Seriously, how cool are Archers? Awesome to hear they settled in well for you. The sleepy is going well, when I walk into the garage he swims over for some attention and food. Gotta say though that fish craps like a horse!

I was at the zoo on the weekend and I gotta say, seeing the barra floating around with the hyperactive archers and eel tails was the highlight of my day. I didnt get any photos though... I was too busy just watching them.
