Instead of maxrix Have you thought of using expanded clay ? It's way cheaper more efficient I'm told and doesn't break down over time I guess they both do the same job in the end but just thinking or the $$$ in the short and long term. .

I just had a read up on it looks like. Good stuff can get it very cheap will probably get that instead

Glad you were able to find an alternative to the bottom bulkhead, Paul can make the front out of tinted glass if you want to hide it? I would also ask him to have the top of a few mm below the edge of the tank just on the longshot something got caught in the bottom.


Looking forward to watching this get built, 8x3 is going to give you room for some awesome fish with well planned filtration to match.
