I have two 2180s are home (one on a 6x2.5x.25 and one on a 4x2x2.5) and could not be happier with their reliability and performance. One of them used to be a 2080 but olli was nice enough to sell me a 2180 head for a price i couldn't resist! Like previously said they hold a heap of media and handle a hell of a bioload.

Kills two birds with one stone and having a 500w heater built in and digital temperature display and alarm on your tank is bloody great. Worth every dollar for a bigger tank and would be perfect for a 5x3x2.

Well, the in head primer turned out to be more hassle than its worth for the whale 500s, I was however able to prime it by doing it the old Ehiem Classic way, suck on the output and shove it in the aquarium!!... but hey whatever works.

Now... finally I have been able to turn on the two whale 500s and WOW, they truly are silent. I once thought my FX5 and Ehiems were silent, but this is something different. I mean I really have to press by ear to the thing and concentrate before I can hear it

The only major con so far was the 'having to go back to Vebas and spending $50 on 2 more sets of hosing. Sicce have outdone themselves. Would seriously recommend them at the moment.

I just got a fluval 205 (Not that it'd be remotely adequate for your application, David) second hand, it was nice and full of sewerage smelling muck but I cleaned it out, gave the impeller a quick scrub and now the flow is sensational for such a small canister and the noise.. well there is none what so ever unless you do as Clownz said and put your head up to the casing.. Even then it's not even that noticeable. Next canister on the list is the Whales if the replacement parts aren't too pricey.

Can you take some water clarity progress shots Clownz? It'd be interesting to see the difference.
