that sucks J

spewin about the umbee fry. how are you other growouts going? both mine are around the 10cm mark. one seems to look very similar to my female umbee but the other one i'm not to sure about. it's in another tank to the other 2 so maybe thats why it's looking so different. hopefully it's a male...

My festae killed another umbee, damn, not getting a break at the moment.
That umbee had no probs in that tank, used to just hide from the festae (good hiding spots) if he had any aggression towards it.

That Velvet just hangs around, nasty stuff that.

My growouts are recovering nicely and growing again.
My bigger umbee (the one that killed Bigz male) is just over 10cm now and killed a 10cm petenia splendida yesterday while I was at work!!
That one is a nasty fish!

What is weird is that my nitrates rarely go over 10ppm and I have had 2 diseases to knock off.
People say that they are always in the water but I hadnt had an issue until I got the new fish.....

Good to hear yours are going well, really hope you have a male, fingers crossed!

3 weeks till my 8ftr arrives, finally some room!

I was stunned to get 2 nasties!

My losses include the big female (damn she was big, 21cm final total length) my big green severum, an umbee fry, a carpinte fry and a festae fry.

Spewing about the big female, that is the fish I saw going into the 8ftr sad.gif

All other fish are now ok or nearly back to full health.
I still have 5 umbies but they are 13cm and under.....

How are yours going now?

spewin about my old girl. 21cm was a decent size!!

mine are going well. one was gettin a bit nailed so it's being looked after by a good mate. both smaller umbees are close to 10cm and my largest (pretty sure it's a female, but still quite colourful) is close to 20cm.

My grow outs are crazy at feeding time.
The biggest one will come 5cm out of the water coz it's lunging trying to get the pellets first, straight out of my hand!
Scared me first time it did it, like it's whole front half of it's body was above the water and it's mouth was snapping!!!

Damn, they have some spirit!!!

Yours doing anything crazy like this?

yeah both mine are in a 6' with a devider so they are both always going nuts at each other. i purposely feed my smaller one first just to get my big umbee pissed off hahaha. bigger umbee is already a bit of a glass banger, especially when it comes to food!

Sorry Bigz the one we thought was a female for your male is getting pointier fins......MAY be a male....but not too much blue on it.....SO hard to sex!

I have a really angry umbee in my 6ftr bout 12cm, had to fence him off coz he was killing a polleni I had, day by day taking bites out of it.
he kept taking on a carpinte bout the same body length but probably weighing twice what he does.
Can not wait for my 2.5mtr, need it to prevent killings!

Last 4 pics are of 3 of my umbees, last 2 are my biggest in that tank.

Hope to have my big setup delivered & running by 2nd week of July. I am running the filter up on my 6ft now.

Did some more work on my led system today too, it's all coming together :-) Can't wait!!!
