Got some larger fish for sale for those interested in these types:

1) 1x silver arowana, approx. 30c, great colour, perfect finnage, scales and barbels, no drop eye, eating anything including pellets - $400

2) 4x silver sharks, approx. 20cm - 4 for $60

3) 3x tinfoil barbs, also approx. 20cm - 3 for $75

4) 3x archerfish, not sure of species name but it is the species that gets fairly large, approx. 15cm - 3 for $40

5) 2x silver dollars, possibly the spotted type, good red coverage - 2 for $30

All fish are healthy, robust and eating like pigs - suit someone looking to setup a tankbuster tank. The aro is remarkably peaceful and does not attack the other fish, including some small loaches and maingano temporarily in his tank. Reason for sale, moving out and won't have a large tank setup again for a few months.

Please pm or respond here with offers, discounts available for taking more fish at a time (take all of them for $550).

Cheers,
Vincent

The archers look like the 7 spot type to me.

Thanks guys, the trick is that I feel that when the aros are small, ppl typically feed them foods that are relatively good, high in carotenoids and vitamins. As they grow larger this becomes a little too expensive! I've seen large aros (pisces had some recently) 30cm+ with that kind of colour and I believe they were fed on high carotenoid diets too.

My solution was to purchase large high quality imported koi pellets, made to feed up show koi. These are typically very high in axtaxanthin and spirulina. This is supplemented by an algae based cheaper floating pellet, to save on costs.

I have also fed homemade food, predominantly beefheart and prawns, supplemented with Naturose and spirulina. This was kindly given to me by Dave76 the webmaster. However I stopped this after the packet was finished as I was a little concerned about the dropeye thing. I am more inclined to believe that it is genetics that causes it rather than the oft blamed "fatty eye deposit" but I guess in the end it is more convenient to feed pellets.
