An article in The Herald 6/615 claims 1000,s of catfish removed from Lake Marmion and 4/6/15 fisheries minister announces it has been stocked with western pygmy perch and western minnow. Wow! a step in the right direction. Herald can be viewed on line at  www.fremantleherald.com

It was tandanus tandanus. They had to remove loads of oblong turtles while they got rid of the tandanus then put them back. The tandanus had somw nasty disease.

yea humbug our mob are still releasing trout to,not much suitable water for them over here i think they are just pandering to a small but vocal number of recreational fishers and maybe a few small towns chambers of commerce.Other than tandanus bostocki [not generally considered] we dont have any native species for angling here in the sw. The fishers rely on trout and redfin

If the T. tandanus were munted due to water conditions, what hope do the poor ol' pygmy's and minnow's have?

Interesting though. Good to see the government types getting it right for once.

Agree on trout too.For anyone who wants to go fishing, theres a whole f#*king ocean just to the west of us. Stocking trout is just an excuse to charge for fishing licenses... Another government cash grab!

Agree about water conditions and the chances for the new chums mm .Been aware of this lake for nearly 20 years[ but not the catties] first 10 i lived a block away and used the deli opposite almost daily, after a few visits i couldnt do it anymore. It is adjacent to an old folks home and i couldnt bear to see them sitting under the do not feed the ducks signs shoveling sxxt loads of bread into the water and those "nice" wise? old people dont like being challenged on their bad behaviour. Between that their over watered/fertilized gardens and the surrounding oval/playing fields also [at least in the past, dont live local to it now] being watered and fertilized i dont think this was in any way an ideal location for a restocking experiment. Also has very little fringing vegetation but!! surely our boffins have considered these issues :Rofl_3f:  :Rofl_3f:  :(

"in poor nick","pesky salvinia molesta weed removed", "wash gunk into the wetlands", "Melville council reckons".

I was thinking it was an attempt at buying old folks votes, but if you want to be pedantic about writing styles you should pay a little attention to your spelling :) [ im teasing, no malice]

Anyone would think your Missus is a school teacher...

It was a very casually written article. Not a bad thing for a community issue like this. Kinda helps engage the average Joe's I suppose.
