Pcs Swap Meet - Sellers Needed

31 December 2020 - 08:33 AM

Below are present details on a weekend swap meet that PCS is planning. Previous swap meet was very successful and tables did a roaring trade.

The swap meet may get pushed into February as we really need just a few more tables of sellers to make it successful. If of interest to have a sellers table could you email myself back on z800w400@outlook.com asap and will send more details.

Sellers Tables don’t need to be anything fancy – last year I sold off a clean out of cupboards. J

Happy fish keeping in the new year,

Regards Craig.

(Copied from PCS FaceBook Group thread - refer to FB post for more details but will keep this web post updated).

PCS is having a Swap Meet on Sunday the 10th of January 10:30am - 1:30pm.

The Swap Meet will be held in our air conditioned club rooms at Atwell College, 201 Brenchley Drive, Atwell, 6164. No need to worry about sun and temperatures.

Sellers book a table to sell any aquarium goods or fish on the day. This will cost $30 for a large trestle table and $15 for a small table. You could even share with a mate if you don't have many items.

We will have Sausage Sizzle, drinks, snacks available for people to purchase and we will provide Paypal and Card facilities for the sellers to maximize sales opportunities. Doors open to sellers only at 9:30am to set up.

There will be a raffle table on the day with great prizes to win. We will draw tickets at half way through at 12pm.

If you wish to become a seller on the day please notify a member of the committee team asap.

Quiet Filters For 5 Gallon Tanks?

14 July 2020 - 02:38 PM

Wondering what small filters people use on 5 gallon tanks? Got a Marina S100 something with motor sitting in water. It’s nice and self-primes but gets this annoying vibrating hum unless sitting just so. Cleaned filter yesterday but no luck. So guess looking for a very quiet, small HOB filter as tank in kitchen. Thanks!

Rusty Wessel resides in Louisville, Kentucky, USA, where he maintains over 30,300 liters (8,000 gallons) of freshwater aquariums, predominantly containing species of the family cichlidae, which he successfully raise and breeds.

Rusty has taken his hobby to a point where he has successfully collected fish from the countries of Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico, from 1983 to the present, for a total of 26 trips to this date. A beautiful and elusive cichlid discovered during one of his expeditions to Honduras was named by Dr. Robert Rush Miller, emeritus professor of the University of Michigan, after him in the June 1996 edition of Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine, Theraps Wesseli.

Rusty is as well a prolific author and photographer, and his writings or photographs have appeared in wide distribution specialized and prestigious publications, like Aquarium Fish Magazine, Aquarist & Pondkeeper, Buntbarsche bulletin, Cichlid News, Ad Konings' Cichlids yearbooks, Freshwater and Marine Aquarium and Tropical Fish Hobbyist.

In the organized hobby, Rusty is currently the "Convention liaison" and "Back issue sales person" for the American Cichlid Association and a speaker participant for the ACA speakers program. He is past chair of the ACA board of trustees (1990) and past convention chair (1990, 1996). In addition, he is an active solicitor for the "Guy Jordan Endowment Fund" (A fund set up under the ACA to grant endowments for cichlid research). On the local level, he is currently the treasurer for the Louisville Tropical Fish fanciers. Rusty has been awarded with the greater honor the American Cichlid Association gives to its distinguished members, the ACA fellowship.

Rusty has lectured and judged numerous fish shows throughout the United States, including the annual "Florida Tropical Fish Farmers" show and several ACA conventions.
