Finally thought I better start a new one!

Mrs surprised me with a new tank start of the year which ended up being a 2nd hand Aqua one regency 280.

Well as most know it came with a durso setup which ain’t quiet at all.

So I gutted the plumbing and went with a herbie overflow.

Remodified the sump to suit the herbie and plans to run a CO2 reactor!

Fast forward the fine tuning of the herbie overflow paired with a jebao 4000 and a very finicky ball valve I finally have a super silent system!!!!

Inside tank movement is done with the outlet from the Jebao 4000 running at bare minimum so about 1200 LPH AND A JEbao SLW 20

Light is a Fluval plant 3.0

Got the CO2 dialed in within first week! Got a kamoer pro x2 auto doser running 2hr aquarist apt fert 3 x 11ml a week.

And an upaqua smart ATO for the tops ups out of a 20ltr jerry can!

I miss tank journals and some of the stuff that used to go on here. A real shame that the brains trust decided Facebook was a better option… might be more traffic but if it’s just crap like EY and mixed peacock IDs for the Gumnuts then what’s the point?

Rant over…. For now.

That is a nice tank. I wish I could make a tank look that good :-(
Cardinals and harlequins look great in big numbers.

Hahahaha mate I hate social media and love the forums more of a personal feeling!!!

Didn’t realize this place was so dead!

Thanks for the kind words! I’ve just got a heap of buce off a mate and an AR and some hygro sunset (not like I needed anything else)

Still chasing coffeefolia,

can never have enough of that!!!!

Will let things settle for a month then I’ll add 10 more cardinals hopefully

Update….

Rescapped a little and removed stem plants as too much of a hassle with the herbie overflow.

Yet another rescape and thinning of the Java fern.

Managed to find a male honey gourami as well as 2 larger females so pretty happy with that.

Forgot to add that I had to change out the SLW-20 as it was off gassing so much CO2 and I couldn’t get the dissolved amount I was happy with.

Swapped it out for a SW-2 and it’s perfect.

Also upped the light intensity and ferts as was battle a very small outbreak of GSA.

Well had to change out the stupid ball valve I had as trying to fine tune the herbie was a pain in the ass.

Ordered a true union gate valve off AliExpress and with a bit of mcgyvering (shimmed a few mm off with the lathe) made it fit snug as a bug.

Fine tuning has never been so easy!!!!

Wow this is a great looking tank! I love how much it changes the longer you have it.

Yeah it’s def a learning progress as I discover the more expensive plants

Have a good mate who helps me out a bit.

Recent adds are a pink flamingo crypt, blue Thea buce and some brownie buce

It’s an awesome set up. Really great work.

Any suggestions on hardy plants to add to a new set up with geos and catfish?
I’ll be weighing them down as the geos are sand sifters and have lots of wood in there.

I’m only new to the plant game mate!

Maybe try some fern on the wood, few swords and see how they go. Maybe a crypt or 2 as well.

Update

Growth seems to to be steady. Little tiny bit of GSA here and there but nothing I’m concerned about I know the cause so just factoring that into the maintenance.

Scores a lovely pair of German blue rams for $20 and a red tiger lotus for $10.

No just chasing some large cherry shrimp! Rate as hens teeth at the moment that’s for sure!

Unfortunately due to work commitments and kids I’m currently looking at selling the tank. Pretty bummed about it but life takes priority!

Currently as it stands

If anyone is interested in it or wants to purchase some plants please let me know!
