I fricken LOVE my peppermint shrimp and in the 3 weeks I have had them they have grown HUGE and are the most vibrant red. They are hilarious to watch running around feeding and everyone is always excited when they notice one hiding in the caves.
So I think I'm going to get my shrimp on and shrimp it up and turn my tank in to a shrimpalicious shrimp haven.
I am getting a pair of bumble bee shrimp and Saron shrimp in a couple of weeks and will see how I go with them if all goes well I just might bite the bullet the get some of the blood shrimp or the red line cleaner shrimp.
What's everyone's thoughts on shrimp in the marine tank?
What are some ideal scaley tank mates?

Red handed shrimp are easily scooped with net and torch off rock walls at night, pretty sure they are classified as a bait species so you shouldn't get in trouble. You may want to double check though.

I used to go to Hilary's boat harbour and go scooping for shrimp! It's sick fun!!

The starfish may knock your stuff around, but I couldn't be sure, mine used to knock everything off!

just be careful of the water temps.
our oceans are cool, temperate down here. if your heating the water, some of the local species may drop off from it being warm.
me personally, id stick to aquarium store supplied marine stock etc.

If it makes anyone feel better - let's say I put them back.
I didn't really though - I put 2 in my tank of the small ones and the rest went in my refuge. It's a healthier and safer environment for them to raise their kids IMO.
Everything survived and is doing fine... However I'm going to be getting rid of both my starfish soon.. Although I love my red hairy one, they do knock stuff around.
