Hi All

I was searching around for a breeding pair or trio of L333s when a guy emailed me that he had a breeding pair he was wanting to sell. He stated that the male was a L066 and the female was a L333 and that they have bred several times and joked about the intermixing of them.

I almost felt like buying the pair just to separate them from breeding any further as I don't feel that this type of breeding is right.

Was just wanting to see how others felt on this subject. And please note that this is just my opinion and not judging people on their breeding habits.

In my opinion DEFINETLY DON'T DO IT! It really stuffs up genetics due to people selling l333xl066 as L333 or l066 and then breeding them absouloutly stuffing up the genes and making weaker fish! I'm sure Johnno will have the best answer to this question :).

Weaker? This isn't the reason we don't cross Michael, in a lot of situations an animal is stronger when a cross. You neglect a tank of fish that has xbreds in it. Almost guarantee tge xbreds are last standing in most cases.

so what exactly do you sell the fry as ??? people want one or the other... people dont want hybrids... if they are your fish you do what you want with them but no-one will buy your fry once the word gets out you have cross bred 333 with 66...

its something you shouldnt do deliberately... has happened accidently...

Some people may just want a pleco to clean and not care about hybrids but it's not a good idea, hybrid cichlids don't sell far, this guy in Bunbury had hybrids in his tank and now no one wants them, even when they are extremely cheap.

Sent from my iPhone usin
