This is a very small tank which creates potential problems with water stability. Generally the larger the volume of water is the more stable the system. Small systems tend to experience more dramatic fluctuations in temperature, pH, nitrates, etc.
You have not mentioned whether you intend to heat this small tank, that will obviously influence your choices. Also the surface area of the tank may affect stocking as will the type of filtration.
If it is going to be a planted tank then what type of lighting will you be using.
What are the parameters of your tap water and are you prepared to create different water if required.
Look forward to this extra info.

So we have a 1 foot tank. How many fish? ... not many!!
The "best" fish to keep are the ones you like and are fascinated by. These are the fish that will retain your interest.
So tell us what interests you and we will try to fit them into this little tank.
Personally, I think for a small planted tank a male Siamese fighting fish makes a wonderful pet. This is enough space for him to be maintained in excellent health and he will reward you with magnificent coloration.

would there be any rooms for corys?

Sure, the cories would be great.
A couple of the larger ones or four small -medium cories would work well. They will enjoy the planted tank and thrive without the competition from more boisterous fish.
Good Luck

Hi Kimbo,
2 or 3 Bronze cories should be fine. They do grow fairly large.
