I'm looking for critters to put in my upcoming reef tank, and while researching, I stumbled upon the Gumdrop Coral Croucher, and I reckon that I'd love one or two in my tank. But upon further research, I've found nothing about them being for sale in Australia :( I know they have been kept in Aust, as shown on Reefing the Australian Way, but nothing else, especially here in WA. Does anyone know where I can get some in Perth? Also how much would one typically fetch for?

Well they are kinda obscure, haha

They look like a goby but they're actually a type of socrpionfish that get to about 2 inches. Ambush predator, good for a small tank, lays eggs on SPS, which can cause irritation to the SPS.

And they're pretty cute.

I have personally never seen one in person.

Why not consider a flame hawk (one of the best marine fish!) or even Okinawa or green clown goby.

Cool looking critter, reminds me of a hawkfish x angler x dwarf goby! Goo dluck to finding one!

I like the concept of a nano predator, and the coral Croucher embodies this well, Ill continue my search for a pair

Try get a clown angler! they are great for a smaller type predator and gorgeously colored.

Have seen them for sale several years back.

Frog/angler fish are really cool, but I only have a 40 litre tank to work with, which is why I chose the Coral Croucher

Actually, I'll consider a small angler/frogfish, it's gotta be a small species like the aforementioned clown/wartskin frogfish. I'll keep my eyes peeled for both the wartskin and the coral croucher, which ever is not only available at a nearby LFS but also affordable lol

Yeh, ocean reefs is really quite underrated, they've really got everything haha. I'll give them a call, see if they can get me a coral croucher or frogfish, if not, I guess I'll just settle for a regular old banggai cardinal, or perc/occelaris clown pair.

I'd take the SPS over the fish personally. ;)

Have you started getting all the bits of equipment together for your reef?
