Scientific Name: Champsochromis caeruleus
Pronunciation: Champ-so-chro-mis kigh-roo-lee-us
Trade Name(s): Malawi Trout, Trout Cichlid
Distribution: Lake-wide distribution
Habitat: Sandy Habitat
Diet: Piscivore (Mainly fish)
Sexing: Males in breeding dress are blue
Females are silver with a green tinge to the body. They also display the juvenile barring from head to caudal.
Maximum Size: 25cm
Temperature: 24 to 26c
pH: 7.5 to 9.0
Water Hardness: 300-400ppm
Availability: Rarely Available in Oz.
