Having recently moved house I am having all manner of strange water issues with my tank.

The tank was recently planted out using ADA Aquasoil.

After filling I did 80% water changes are recommended ( 1 1/2 weeks )

Everytime the water looked very cloudy ( milky ) but new water looked clear.'

Next day cloudy again, running 2 x ehiem 2217 ( already seeded as off other tanks so no cycle started ) along with 2 x powerheads with very fine filter wool the water cleared ( kinda ).

So at 3 week mark I added fish and some shrimp. All were  happy and doing well.

Did water change of about 30% , while filling fish started to die!!

After about 1 hour all fish dead ( threadfin rainbows and spotted blueyes ) and 1/2 of my shrimp.

Next day 3/4 of shrimp dead.

As tank is now, shrimp that survived looked great but tank is still milky.

Now before I get told off for not checking water before use etc I had been doing these sorts of water changes in previous home with no issues.

So my question is, does anyone else have water issues in Kingsley or surrounds?

( I know Kane has cloudy/milky water so I am not alone )

( doing odd hours so haven't made it to lfs to get water actually tested )

Cheers

Graeme

when i lived in padbury i didnt have a cloudy water issue but i was getting nitrate in tape water. Try testing your tape water to see if you have the same. As for all your fish dieing as you where changing the water that super sucks!! did you use anything new? hose, tap fitting anything like that, that could have some contamination on it or maybe even on ur hands or arm if you put them into the tank? My father in law had been working on a car and then did a water change and killed all of his fish within 24 hrs from what was on his hands.

I'm just down the road & I never have cloudy water issues.

Ask riggermortis he lives in kinglsey. I don't think he has issues either from memory.

I am nowhere near kinglsey, I'm off the jandakot water supply, and I have been getting nitrate in my tap water.

I think I will have to invest in a water storage unit for my fish tanks, as I'm getting fed up with the water in my area

G'day mate,

I'm in Kingsley to, never been a drama with water here, im getting lazy so my water changes are straight from the tap.. I'm running a 900lt setup for my Tropheus, my water is crystal clear and no fish deaths :)

Hope it settles down for ya

I used to store water in an ibc both salt and fresh, I'd add all the stuff first, tang salts and de chloritator for the fresh, Red Sea max reef builder and calcium in the salt, it's a pain and I don't see the point these days plus I sold my closed in ibc's...
